Yesterday marked a major milestone for PaceLab in the UK—our first-ever trial sessions for the London and Sheffield Academies are officially complete.
Across two locations, we welcomed a strong group of aspiring fast bowlers, each bringing raw potential, intent, and a hunger to learn. It was an incredible start to what will become a key part of the UK fast bowling calendar.
🌪️ What the Trials Involved
The trial sessions weren’t just about pace on the gun. Athletes were taken through a full, high-performance screening process designed to give us a holistic view of their current ability and future ceiling. This included:
-
Technical video capture for bowling mechanics and movement pattern analysis
-
Med ball and jump testing to assess power output
-
Bowling intent drills to measure mindset and execution under pressure
-
One-on-one interactions with PaceLab coaches to evaluate coachability, awareness, and growth potential
💬 What We Saw
We were blown away by the standard. From 15-year-olds hitting serious numbers to older players showcasing a deep desire to develop, the trials showed us that there’s no shortage of talent in the UK—only a shortage of the right environments to help it thrive.
These trials weren’t about finding finished products. They were about identifying raw, mouldable, and coachable athletes—and we found plenty.
🚀 What’s Next
Selected athletes will now be offered places in our London and Sheffield Academy intakes, launching soon. These athletes will receive elite-level coaching, bespoke programming, and the same philosophy that underpins all of PaceLab’s global systems.
Missed the first trial? Don't worry. We'll be announcing more trial dates for both cities very soon.
🧠 Why This Matters
The UK has fast bowlers. What it needs is development frameworks built specifically for them. These Academies, and the trials that lead into them, are about building that—one athlete at a time.
If you're an aspiring fast bowler or coach who wants to be part of the next wave, now’s the time to get involved.
